Hot on the heels of the sweeping 1.6 content update released in November 2024, Barone has issued a fresh patch for the Nintendo Switch edition, focusing explicitly on resolving persistent bugs and enhancing the gameplay experience for Switch users.
The new Stardew Valley patch, released in January 2025 via the Nintendo eShop, targets several critical issues that have impacted players since the 1.6 update.
According to Barone, the fixes specifically address the raccoon shop bug, a crash triggered by divorce events, inconsistencies with rain randomization, and a collection of other smaller problems.
Notably, due to the patch correcting randomization behavior, players may notice one-off retroactive changes affecting raccoon requests and the appearance of certain items in their game.
"The Nintendo Switch patch went live last night and resolves the raccoon shop issue, divorce-related crashes, rain randomization bugs, and various other concerns.
Some retroactive changes may occur to item appearances or raccoon requests due to these adjustments," Barone explained in a recent community statement.
Additionally, Barone acknowledged ongoing investigation into a gifting issue that occurs when players give presents to villagers, assuring the community that this problem is being actively addressed for future updates.
This patch follows the massive 1.6 Stardew Valley update, which introduced a wealth of new content to players on the Nintendo Switch.
Highlights from the 1.6 update include several new festivals, a fresh farm layout, the introduction of a mastery system, expanded pet options allowing players to adopt multiple pets, the opening of the Lost Items Shop, and much more.
The update represents one of the most substantial post-launch expansions for the game since its original release on the Nintendo Switch in October 2017.
