Two of the Nintendo Switch’s most anticipated backward compatibility updates have finally arrived.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Plants vs.

Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, both of which previously suffered from significant compatibility issues on Nintendo Switch 2, are now fully operational following newly released game updates. When the Nintendo Switch 2 launched, many fans expected their favorite Nintendo Switch titles to work seamlessly on the new hardware.

However, not all titles transitioned smoothly, and both Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Plants vs.

Zombies: Battle for Neighborville were among the games initially listed as unsupported.

Developed by Aspyr and PopCap Games respectively, these titles had been unavailable for download or play on the Nintendo Switch 2’s eShop for some time, leaving many owners frustrated and looking for solutions. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2, the celebrated RPG known for its deep narrative rooted in the Star Wars universe, and Plants vs.

Zombies: Battle for Neighborville, a popular multiplayer shooter from Electronic Arts and PopCap Games, have significant player bases who had been awaiting news of their return.

With the release of the latest patches, both games have now been confirmed as working properly on Nintendo Switch 2 hardware.

Players can download the required updates directly from the Nintendo eShop to ensure smooth gameplay. A spokesperson familiar with the development process explained that while some Nintendo Switch games encounter minor issues on Switch 2, these two titles faced unique challenges that required targeted patches.

Both Aspyr and PopCap Games worked diligently to address these compatibility concerns, resulting in updates that restore full functionality to these titles – without the need for a major Nintendo system update. Notably, while previous fixes for Switch backward compatibility were tied closely to system firmware updates, these resolved issues highlight the flexibility of deploying game-specific patches.

This allows publishers and developers more control in addressing compatibility issues at any point in the Nintendo Switch 2’s lifecycle, ensuring that the library of playable games continues to expand. Players can now once again purchase Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic 2 and Plants vs.

Zombies: Battle for Neighborville on the Nintendo Switch 2 eShop.

This is a significant development for the platform, as it demonstrates Nintendo’s ongoing support for legacy titles and shows that third-party developers are committed to ensuring their games remain accessible to new hardware users.

As Nintendo Switch 2’s library continues to grow, fans can look forward to more classic and modern experiences being available through the eShop. For continued updates on Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility fixes and new releases, follow our dedicated Nintendo coverage.
