Star Trek: Shadow Frontier Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 — Bloober Team Partners with Paramount Games Studio

Paramount Games Studio and Bloober Team have confirmed that Star Trek: Shadow Frontier is in development for the Nintendo Switch 2, with a planned digital release on the Nintendo eShop worldwide in 2027.

The upcoming title is described as a sci‑fi psychological thriller and will feature Michelle Forbes reprising her role as Ro Laren, the Bajoran character who joined the USS Enterprise‑D crew in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

Project premise and setting

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier places Ro Laren at the centre of a survival and exploration story.

After responding to a distress signal, her shuttle crashes on an uncharted world that is revealed to be a spaceship graveyard.

As she navigates a corrupted surface and encounters other survivors, the narrative pits her against twisted creatures, a hostile ecosystem and an entity intent on assimilating both body and mind.

Developer partnership and creative direction

Paramount Games Studio is collaborating with Bloober Team, the Polish studio known for psychological horror titles such as Layers of Fear and The Medium.

Paramount’s senior vice president and head of creative and production, Shawn Kittelsen, said the publisher intentionally selected a studio experienced in building dense, atmospheric experiences to both honour Star Trek’s legacy and push the franchise in new directions.

Kittelsen expressed confidence that Bloober can deliver a game that respects the source material while offering something bold.

Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno framed the project as a long‑standing labour of love: the studio’s leadership described themselves as lifelong sci‑fi fans who have combined their horror expertise with the Star Trek universe to craft a unique, darker adventure that aims to respect the franchise even as it introduces a distinct psychological layer.

Platform and release

Star Trek: Shadow Frontier is confirmed as a digital‑only release for the Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for 2027.

Further details on gameplay, distribution windows, and potential physical editions have not been announced.

Fans and industry observers can expect additional updates from Paramount Games Studio and Bloober Team as development progresses.
