Star Streak Atari Jaguar Release: what to know
Songbird Productions is bringing Star Streak, an '80s-style 360-degree shoot-'em-up, to the Atari Jaguar with a planned release window in the first quarter of 2027.
The developer—known for Jaguar titles Old Towers and Wings of Death and working on upcoming projects Shape Shooter 2000 and the Zool Collection—first debuted Star Streak during JagFest 2024 with a limited run of 100 cartridges.
Gameplay and design
Star Streak is a rotary shooter that places players in control of a single maneuverable spacecraft that must survive waves of asteroids and hostile craft.
The game emphasizes momentum and inertia—gravity and drift affect the ship’s speed and handling—and awards players with score multipliers for rapid destruction of asteroids and enemy ships.
The package includes multiple boss encounters and a Time Attack mode that challenges players to maximize their score within a three-minute window.
Paraphrased statement from Songbird Productions
In promotional messaging, Songbird Productions urged Jaguar owners to prepare for a loud, high-energy addition to the console’s library, positioning Star Streak as a headline release for fans of classic, momentum-based arcade shooters.
Release history and availability
Star Streak first appeared at JagFest 2024 in a limited physical run of 100 cartridges.
Songbird Productions has said it will produce a new batch of cartridges for public sale and has indicated a target release in Q1 2027.
