Space Chef Launches on Nintendo Switch: A Cosmic Culinary Adventure Lands on eShop

Space Chef, the anticipated cooking adventure game developed by BlueGooGames and published by Kwalee, has officially launched on Nintendo Switch this week.

The release marks the arrival of a unique blend of restaurant management, light survival RPG, and life simulation to the Nintendo eShop, offering players an out-of-this-world experience set in the vibrant and quirky Horseshoe Nebula. Unveiled in a brand-new launch trailer, Space Chef invites players to step into the role of an aspiring intergalactic chef with dreams of culinary fame.

Players will traverse five distinct alien planets—from the lush jungles of Lush to the aquatic expanses of Bluegoonia—seeking out more than 100 alien ingredients.

These ingredients, gathered from planets, shipwrecks, and even the protagonist's own basement, form the foundation for crafting over 140 delectable dishes.

Each dish, whether a simple Beefle Skewer or the notoriously challenging Octoegg Surprise, tests both resourcefulness and culinary skill. Speaking about the game’s unique approach, the creative team at BlueGooGames explained that Space Chef offers players the freedom to explore alien worlds, confront space pirates, and discover rare resources used to upgrade their spaceship, kitchen equipment, and gear.

"With a universe of strange ingredients at your disposal, the adventure is as much about exploration as it is about cooking," the developers noted. Players manage every facet of their budding restaurant empire.

The customizable space trailer, which may appear modest from the outside, features an in-depth decoration and coloring system.

Gamers can place furniture, add new floors, and create themed zones from over 150 décor options, personalizing the restaurant to suit their vision of interstellar hospitality. Space Chef also distinguishes itself with an engaging cast of characters inhabiting the Horseshoe Nebula, including Zoe the scrap dealer and the enigmatic barman Zlurka.

Through dynamic side quests, recipe exchanges, and even optional romance storylines, players can form relationships that unlock unique dishes and adventures.

The game’s storyline delves into themes of adventure, rivalry, and family, as players uncover clues about the protagonist’s missing grandmother while contending with the fast-food behemoth, Galactic Burger. Additional game features include: the ability to create your own menu (with vegetarian and vegan choices), flexible restaurant hours, delivery or dine-in service options, and over 180 creatures and plants to hunt, harvest, or avoid.

More than 100 craftable items are available to enhance your character, spaceship, and culinary arsenal. Space Chef is now available for digital download on the Nintendo eShop.
