SEGA Announces Sonic The Hedgehog Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles Podcast Release Date

SEGA has officially announced 'Sonic The Hedgehog Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles,' a new narrative podcast series set to launch globally on January 27, 2026.

Drawing inspiration from vintage detective radio dramas, the series stars the fan-favorite Chaotix Detective Agency—consisting of Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, and Charmy Bee—who are tasked with unraveling their greatest mystery to date. SEGA's latest venture into audio storytelling aims to blend a noir-inspired atmosphere with the dynamic energy that defines the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise.

The series will feature the official Sonic video game voice cast reprising their celebrated roles.

Roger Craig Smith returns as Sonic the Hedgehog, Keith Silverstein voices Vector the Crocodile, Matthew Mercer steps in as Espio the Chameleon, and Colleen O’Shaughnessey reprises her role as Charmy Bee.

The podcast promises appearances from other beloved Sonic characters throughout the first season. Spearheading the creative team is director Ian Jones-Quartey, known for his work on 'OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes' and 'Steven Universe.' The show’s lead writer, Dan Jolley, brings experience from notable projects such as 'Transformers,' 'Dying Light,' and 'Superman.' Writers Ian Flynn and Evan Stanley—both recognized for their extensive Sonic the Hedgehog comic contributions—round out the scriptwriting room.

The original score is composed by Charlie Rosen, the Grammy and Tony Award-winning leader of the 8-Bit Big Band, ensuring a vibrant audio experience for listeners. Fred Greenhalgh and Dan Brunelle from Realm oversee sound design and post-production, further elevating the podcast’s audio quality.

Realm, an established studio specializing in transforming well-known franchises into audio series, will handle distribution and advertising for the series.

Their previous projects have included 'Harley Quinn and The Joker: Sound Mind,' 'DC High Volume: Batman,' and 'Star Trek: Khan.' Ryan Hamlyn, SEGA’s Senior Director of Lore and Creative Strategy, described the production as a major step for the franchise.

He noted that the team aimed to merge the captivating elements of detective noir with Sonic’s signature action-packed style, resulting in a fresh, authentic narrative experience.

Hamlyn emphasized the value of Realm’s partnership in delivering the new adventure to podcast audiences worldwide. Molly Barton, CEO and co-founder of Realm, expressed excitement in collaborating with SEGA’s innovative Sonic team.

She highlighted how the franchise has successfully expanded over recent years and believes fans will appreciate the immersive, action-driven world of the Chaotix Detective Agency. 'Sonic The Hedgehog Presents: The Chaotix Casefiles' will be available for streaming on all major podcast platforms starting January 27, 2026.

This marks a significant expansion of the Sonic universe, giving fans a new medium through which to experience their favorite characters and stories.
