Smalland 2: Lost Realms Confirmed for Nintendo Switch 2 — Launching in 2027

Maximum Entertainment today announced Smalland 2: Lost Realms and confirmed the game will release on Nintendo Switch 2 in 2027.

The sequel builds on the studio's miniature-scale open-world survival formula in the follow-up to Smalland: Survive the Wilds.

The announcement highlights expanded scope, enhanced systems, and continued support for 10-player cooperative play.

The developer described Smalland 2: Lost Realms as a prequel set before the arrival of the Giants, transporting players to a mythical era in which elemental creatures, forgotten civilizations, and unexplored territories await discovery.

Maximum Entertainment said the sequel will deliver a larger world, deeper progression systems, and strengthened creature companionships while preserving the 10-player co-op experience fans enjoyed in the original.

Key features listed by the studio include a redesigned crafting system, new water and climbing mechanics, and enhanced creature taming that allows players to form bonds with companions that provide unique abilities.

The team also confirmed the game uses Unreal Engine 5 to render more vibrant environments with higher detail and improved environmental effects.

Players will assume the role of the Smallfolk and journey across the Lost Realms to uncover ancient secrets and confront a prophecy that threatens the world's future.

The world is described as regionally diverse: each area features its own cultures, resources, and challenges.

Survivors can establish outposts, forge trade routes between distant lands, and build networks to help their people evolve across these varied biomes.

Maximum Entertainment released a first trailer alongside the announcement, giving a look at environments, creature designs, and some of the new mechanics.

The studio also confirmed that Smalland: Survive the Wilds recently arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 last month, indicating the developer is actively supporting Nintendo's next-gen handheld-console platform and the eShop ecosystem.

With a 2027 launch window, Smalland 2: Lost Realms joins a growing list of Unreal Engine 5-powered titles targeting Nintendo Switch 2.

Developers and players will be watching for further details on platform-specific features, Nintendo Direct showcases, and eShop release listings as the project moves toward its multi-year development cycle.
