Description

DMM Games and Too Kyo Games have officially announced Shuten Order, a new multi-genre adventure game, making its debut exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.

The partnership between these industry veterans is notable, as Too Kyo Games, led by renowned creator Kazutaka Kodaka, is celebrated for acclaimed titles such as Master Detective Archives: Rain Code and the recently released The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy.

The game's anticipated release date is September 5, 2025, as confirmed by publisher Spike Chunsoft. Shuten Order promises a distinctive blend of gameplay genres, offering players the opportunity to experience five different game systems within a single narrative.

The adventure, directed by Danganronpa creator Kazutaka Kodaka, leverages Too Kyo Games’ reputation for innovative storytelling and unconventional gameplay.

This collaboration with DMM Games aims to deliver a fresh take within the adventure genre—a hallmark of Kodaka’s previous work. Set in a world gripped by crisis, Shuten Order presents a dystopian narrative where the mysterious religious group, the Shuten Order, emerges with apocalyptic ambitions.

As followers gather and establish a small theocratic nation, the group's Founder meets a violent end.

The story begins in earnest as the slain Founder, resurrected as Rei Shimobe by a supernatural force, grapples with amnesia and a limited lifespan of only four days.

Two enigmatic “angels,” Himeru and Mikotoru, task Rei with identifying and facing their murderer before time expires—a journey combining investigation, tension, and high stakes for both protagonist and world. Players will encounter five key suspects, each holding ministerial power within the Shuten Order’s government.

Depending on which minister is targeted, the narrative and gameplay system will shift dramatically: - The Ministry of Justice path delivers a classic mystery adventure, encouraging careful examination and deduction. - The Ministry of Health features an intense escape sequence through lethal mazes and psychological puzzles. - The Ministry of Science unfolds as a multi-perspective visual novel, where timelines branch and motives diverge. - The Ministry of Education surprises with a romance adventure rooted in subterfuge and emotional choices. - The Ministry of Security pits players against formidable foes in a stealth action horror setting, demanding survival and strategy. The depth and variety are augmented with unique features like the “Snapping” mechanic for investigation and a branching route system, ensuring high replay value.

Pre-orders for both the standard and Digital Deluxe editions are now open on the Nintendo eShop.

The Digital Deluxe Edition includes an exclusive visual art book and a mini soundtrack.

In addition, Nintendo Switch players can access a pre-order bonus: a digital novel titled “Before the Murders – case: Manji Fushicho,” supervised by Kodaka and serving as a narrative prequel to the main game. With its innovative genre fusion, complex characters, and direction by one of Japan’s most revered narrative designers, Shuten Order further cements Too Kyo Games’ reputation for creative risk-taking and compelling storytelling on the Nintendo Switch.

Mark your calendars for September 5, 2025, when Shuten Order steps into the spotlight on Nintendo’s platform.
