Lords of the Fallen II on Nintendo Switch 2: CI Games Confirms UE5 Build, Targets 30FPS

Plaion and CI Games have confirmed that Lords of the Fallen II is in active development for Nintendo Switch 2, with a planned worldwide launch in Autumn 2026 on both retail and the Nintendo eShop.

The announcement positions the sequel for Nintendo’s next-generation portable home console and reiterates CI Games’ commitment to delivering the franchise’s signature soulslike action-RPG experience on the platform.

Background and development

Lords of the Fallen II is being developed in Unreal Engine 5 and aims to leverage UE5 technologies such as Nanite and Lumen to produce higher-polygon models and fully dynamic global illumination on Nintendo Switch 2.

CI Games said bespoke engineering optimizations — coordinated with Epic and Nintendo — are part of the technical pipeline.

The developer also stated the game is targeting a stable 30 frames per second across both Handheld and TV modes on the new hardware.

Combat, world design and co-op

CI Games described the sequel as a "bolder, braver and bloodier" follow-up that builds on community feedback and more than 70 post-launch updates to the original.

The studio says the aggressive combat system has been reworked to feel faster and more responsive, with expanded combat abilities, executions and visceral dismemberments.

The team also confirmed an expanded enemy roster with biome-specific factions, more dynamic boss encounters and a richer world that alternates between the living realm and the Umbral.

On online features, CI Games confirmed shared-progression co-op will be available at launch, enabling both players to save mainline campaign progress in a cooperative session or to join more casual assistance runs.

The developer framed co-op as a seamless option for players who want help without sacrificing campaign advancement.

Studio comments

Game director James Lowe said the team is focused on ensuring Lords of the Fallen II’s dark fantasy world and fast, brutal combat translate effectively to Nintendo Switch 2.

He added that the studio is pleased with how the build currently looks and performs and credited close technical collaboration with Nintendo and Epic for enabling the platform-targeted optimizations.
