Shantae Advance Physical Editions Announced by Limited Run Games for Nintendo Switch

As anticipation builds for the summer launch of Shantae Advance, fans received exciting news with the announcement of the game’s physical release.

Limited Run Games, known for producing premium physical editions of beloved titles, will oversee manufacturing and distribution for the Nintendo Switch version. Collectors will have a choice of three versions: a standard physical edition, the Classic Edition, and the flagship Revolutionary Edition.

The Classic Edition includes the Nintendo Switch game cartridge, a deluxe holofoil box, the official soundtrack, and a collectible steelbook.

Meanwhile, the Revolutionary Edition significantly expands on these extras, bundling in six exclusive art prints, a set of 50 trading cards, a pixel art light, a Squid Baron plush, a retro-inspired metal cartridge keychain, and a uniquely numbered certificate of authenticity.

Each tier is tailored to appeal to both longtime fans and new collectors seeking a comprehensive Shantae experience. Shantae Advance marks the latest entry in the acclaimed series from developer WayForward.

Reviving a long-lost chapter crafted over two decades ago, the game pits the iconic half-genie hero Shantae against her old adversary, the infamous pirate Risky Boots.

This time, Risky Boots has embarked on a bold plan, aiming to literally rotate the continent of Sequin Land so she can bring any town to the shoreline for plundering.

Players will use Shantae’s signature abilities—including her hair whip attack, magical items, and transformative belly dances—across intricately designed multilayered levels that emphasize both action and puzzle-solving. The game provides an expanded gameplay experience, featuring six different creature transformations, intense boss battles, and—for the first time in Shantae history—a four-player Battle Mode.

Fans can revisit familiar locations and characters, such as Rottytops, Sky, and Bolo, while exploring new environments and secrets.

In a statement, WayForward highlighted the release as “the definitive restoration of a hidden chapter in Shantae’s saga, giving fans a chance to enjoy a vision two decades in the making.” Shantae Advance will be available for preorder on Nintendo Switch starting August 8, 2025, through Limited Run Games.
