Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine is a third-person action title originally released in 2011 by Relic Entertainment; the Master Crafted Edition is described as a modernized remaster that bundles the base game with its downloadable content.
According to the ESRB entry, the Master Crafted Edition brings visual and technical enhancements.
The official materials for the remaster say the game has been "enhanced for a new generation," with higher-fidelity textures, updated character models, remastered audio, a modernized control scheme and support for resolutions up to 4K.
In journalistic terms: the remaster updates graphics, audio and input to meet contemporary standards while preserving the original single-player campaign and multiplayer structure.
The overview supplied with the Master Crafted Edition frames the game as a return to the grimdark Warhammer 40,000 setting.
Players control Captain Titus of the Ultramarines as he and a squad of Space Marine veterans fight to defend an Imperial forge world from an Ork invasion while confronting a darker threat.
The remaster’s description highlights brutal melee and ranged combat and reiterates the original’s mixture of large-scale battles and aggressive close-quarters encounters.
Included with the Master Crafted Edition, per official listings, are the original game and all previously released DLC: the Chaos Unleashed Map Pack, Dreadnought Assault content, Iron Hand Veteran Chapter Pack, Death Guard Champion Chapter Pack, Golden Relic weapons and several armor and faction packs.
The remaster also reiterates online features from the original, including eight-versus-eight multiplayer matches and cross-play support as part of the package.
Relic Entertainment’s Space Marine has not previously been released on a Nintendo platform; the ESRB listing is the first formal classification to name Nintendo Switch 2 for this title.
An official announcement from the publisher or Nintendo has not been made.
Separately, the ESRB also added a Nintendo Switch 2 rating for Petit Planet on the same day, indicating multiple fresh classifications in the database.
