Mindscape and development studio Floor 84 have officially announced Dog Man: Bark In Action for Nintendo Switch, with a worldwide digital release on the Nintendo eShop scheduled for Fall 2026.
The new side-scrolling platformer is based on Dav Pilkey’s popular Dog Man comic-book series and follows 2024’s Dog Man: Mission Impawsible.
Dog Man: Bark In Action casts players as the part-man, part-dog hero and his expanding roster of Supa Buddies as they confront the villainous Dr Scum.
In the game’s narrative, Dr Scum installs Hypno Screens across the city, putting citizens under mind control; players must rescue friends, topple minions and ultimately face Dr Scum to save the city.
Development and creative direction
Mindscape’s lead producer Matthijs Kramer praised Floor 84’s returning role, saying the studio demonstrated a clear grasp of the Dog Man property and delivered a product that reflects what fans appreciate about the comics.
Floor 84 creative director Matthew Vroman described the project as an opportunity to return to Dav Pilkey’s world, with a deliberate effort to build on the strengths of the first game and elevate the experience.
Key gameplay features
- 10 Playable Characters: Swap between Dog Man, Li’l Petey, 80-HD and seven additional characters, each with unique abilities.
Support characters such as Commander Cupcake and Chief can be called in for assistance.
- 60 Action-Packed Levels: Players will explore locations including Cat Jail and Robo-Time Industries, tackle Time Challenges, and search for Mystery Levels hidden throughout the stages.
- Six New Worlds and Increased Boss Encounters: The title includes six new worlds and offers double the number of boss fights compared to the 2024 release Dog Man: Mission Impawsible.
- Local Co-op and Solo Modes: The game supports single-player and local cooperative play, with a second player controlling a character that brings its own set of special abilities.
- Progression and Customization: Collectible sprockets and yarn unlock Supa Gadgets and outfits for characters such as the Scarlet Shredder and Cat Kid.
- Presentation: The game features comic-book–inspired visuals, animated effects, and humor faithful to Dav Pilkey’s artwork and tone.
