Kyoto Xanadu Rurui Trailer: Falcom Confirms July 16, 2026 Release on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2

Nihon Falcom has released a new character trailer for Kyoto Xanadu, spotlighting Rurui ahead of the title’s Japan launch on July 16, 2026 for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2.

Kyoto Xanadu is positioned as the series follow-up to Tokyo Xanadu, and Falcom’s announcement confirms the action RPG will arrive on Nintendo’s current and next-generation Switch hardware on that date.

A western release window remains under development and will be confirmed by Falcom at a later time.

In the trailer and accompanying materials, Falcom introduces Rurui as a recurring, enigmatic figure encountered by players in the labyrinth beneath Kyoto.

Paraphrasing the translation provided by Gematsu, Falcom describes Rurui as a mysterious girl who speaks in a hesitant, distinctive manner and carries a striking presence.

Although she gives the impression of being around ten years old, her actual age is unknown.

The studio notes she is elusive: she sometimes appears unannounced at the protagonist Rei’s home or unexpectedly joins the exploration team while they navigate the great labyrinth.

Rurui is portrayed as socially unconventional and difficult to read, yet she displays a robust appetite and will readily eat a wide variety of food.

Kyoto Xanadu continues Falcom’s focus on fast-paced, dungeon-driven action RPG design.

The game’s premise revolves around delving into an expansive labyrinth beneath Kyoto to confront monsters and unravel local mysteries—an evolution of themes established in Tokyo Xanadu.

Nihon Falcom is the developer behind Kyoto Xanadu; the studio is widely known for franchises such as Ys and The Legend of Heroes.

Falcom’s release schedule and platform support now explicitly include both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 for the July 16, 2026 Japanese launch.

Fans awaiting additional details—retail and digital editions, or a western release date—should watch for official follow-ups from Falcom and regional publishers.
