Nintendo has formally revealed the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition, a limited-edition hardware bundle timed to coincide with the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time later this year.

The company announced the special edition during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct broadcast on September 8, 2026, and confirmed details in a Nintendo of America press release.

Design and hardware

The Switch 2 40th Anniversary Edition features a geometric Triforce motif applied to both the dock and the console body, with matching green Joy-Con controllers that carry smaller Triforce accents.

Nintendo also revealed a Zelda-branded Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller and a themed carrying case.

For collectors, a display stand for the Pro Controller is planned; Nintendo said the stand will be sold exclusively at Nintendo New York, Nintendo San Francisco, and the Nintendo Store online.

Availability and pricing

Nintendo has set the street date for the Nintendo Switch 2 – The Legend of Zelda – 40th Anniversary Edition, the Pro Controller, and the carrying case for October 29, 2026.

The console is listed with an MSRP of $519.99.

These items will be available at select retailers and through Nintendo’s online storefront, the Nintendo Store.

Official confirmation and context

Following weeks of convincing leaks that included photos of retail packaging, Nintendo confirmed those rumors by unveiling the themed hardware during its anniversary broadcast.

In journalistic terms: Nintendo confirmed that earlier rumors and packaging leaks were accurate when it publicly unveiled the Zelda-themed Switch 2 hardware and accessories.

What this means for players and collectors

The release ties directly into the company’s celebration of The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary and the launch of Ocarina of Time on the new hardware platform.

Fans tracking special-edition consoles will want to note both the October 29 ship date and the MSRP, and collectors targeting exclusives should be aware of the localized availability of the Pro Controller display stand at Nintendo New York and Nintendo San Francisco as well as online via the Nintendo Store.
