Announced as the series’ return after roughly a decade, Rhythm Heaven Groove is now available digitally on the Nintendo eShop and at retail for Switch owners.
The new title continues the franchise’s signature blend of simple controls and tight musical timing.
Nintendo’s overview highlights more than 80 solo rhythm games that emphasize easy-to-learn mechanics and satisfying mastery.
In addition, Rhythm Heaven Groove includes over 30 local multiplayer rhythm games that support up to four players on a single Nintendo Switch, enabling cooperative and competitive play without additional consoles or copies of the game.
Reporting Nintendo’s descriptions in plain terms: the developer says players will encounter a wide variety of rhythm scenarios—catching flying vegetables, bouncing fruit off arm muscles, swinging sledgehammers and other rhythm-based activities—each designed to pair distinct visual gags with precise timing.
The company also details multiplayer offerings in which friends can form eccentric ensembles, from racing wrestlers to group-based minigames that reward teamwork and timing.
A notable new mode is Beatspell, a rhythm-driven RPG within Rhythm Heaven Groove.
Nintendo explains that players use musical patterns to cast spells, progress through chapters and strengthen abilities; new Beatspell chapters unlock when players achieve high scores in solo rhythm games, tying core gameplay loops together around score-based progression.
Rhythm Heaven Groove adds several quality-of-life and practice features.
Drum Lesson provides guided instruction for learning drumming basics, while Free Jam allows open-ended play.
A Rhythm Toy Box and a Café offer casual spaces to explore mechanics and discover secrets.
The game also features original compositions and licensed tracks from renowned Japanese musician Tsunku♂.
Accessibility and calibration are included: an in-game assistant named Li’l Miss Reeds can read on-screen text aloud, and timing calibration options let players fine-tune button input to match their display.
The Rhythm Heaven Groove launch trailer is available from Nintendo’s official channels, and the game can be purchased now on the Nintendo eShop or at retail for Nintendo Switch.
