Resident Evil Requiem and Trilogy Launch Confirmed for Switch 2: Capcom Brings Horror Hits to Next-Gen Nintendo Console
Capcom has officially confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem will release on Nintendo’s upcoming Switch 2, marking a significant expansion of the Resident Evil franchise onto Nintendo hardware.
The announcement came during the highly anticipated September 2025 Nintendo Direct, where Capcom unveiled a dedicated trailer showcasing in-game footage from the Switch 2 version.
Although the visuals have been modestly scaled down compared to its PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S counterparts, the Switch 2 port delivers a compelling, high-fidelity survival horror experience.
Resident Evil Requiem will debut simultaneously on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on February 27, 2026, further cementing Capcom’s commitment to multi-platform releases.
Notably, alongside the launch of Requiem, Capcom is also bringing two acclaimed predecessors—Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and Resident Evil Village—to Switch 2 on the very same day.
This synchronized trilogy launch provides Nintendo players with immediate access to the full narrative arc spanning these iconic first-person entries in the franchise, all powered by Capcom’s celebrated RE Engine.
In a statement accompanying the reveal, Capcom representatives expressed enthusiasm for broadening the Resident Evil audience: "Making our modern, high-profile Resident Evil titles available on Switch 2 gives more players the opportunity to experience our latest horror stories," Capcom shared.
While the Switch 2 editions feature technical adjustments for the hardware, Capcom emphasized that gameplay fidelity and atmospheric tension remain priorities for these ports.
The back-to-back launch of Resident Evil Requiem, 7: Biohazard, and Village underscores Capcom’s sustained effort to support the Nintendo ecosystem with contemporary titles.
Previously, Resident Evil releases on the original Switch consisted mainly of cloud-based versions.
Now, with the increased processing power promised by Switch 2, Capcom is able to deliver native versions tailored for Nintendo’s next-generation platform.
This announcement also clarifies recent speculation regarding the entire series’ migration to Switch 2.
While earlier rumors suggested all six RE Engine Resident Evil games might be headed for the platform, the decision to focus first on the trilogy that shares a narrative and gameplay style ensures fans can experience the complete first-person saga from launch.
Additional highlights from the September 2025 Nintendo Direct included the long-anticipated Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream, set for a Spring 2026 release, Dragon Quest VII Reimagined arriving in early 2026, and an unexpected return of the Virtual Boy library via a Switch accessory and new Nintendo Switch Online offerings.
With Resident Evil Requiem and its critically acclaimed predecessors arriving soon, the Switch 2’s launch cycle is shaping up to be one of Nintendo’s most robust in recent memory.
