Capcom’s financial results for the business year ended March 31st confirm a standout period for the publisher, driven in large part by strong demand for the Resident Evil franchise and other long-running series.

Resident Evil Requiem, released in February 2026, accounted for a significant portion of recent sales, while the franchise as a whole has now exceeded 200 million units sold since its 1996 debut.

According to Capcom’s report, Resident Evil Requiem has sold 6.91 million units since its launch in February 2026.

The broader Resident Evil catalog continues to include some of the series’ best-selling entries: Resident Evil 5 remains the franchise leader with just over 19 million units sold, and the 2019 Resident Evil 2 remake has surpassed 18 million units.

Capcom recorded 59.07 million game sales during the reported business year, up from 51.87 million in the previous period.

The company also marked its ninth consecutive year of record profits, achieving the highest consolidated sales and the highest operating profit in its history for that fiscal year.

The report highlights a continuing industry trend toward digital distribution: 93% of units sold were digital downloads.

Additionally, 83.7% of the company’s sales during the year were attributed to catalog titles—existing back-catalog games that continue to generate revenue.

The financial filing also lists lifetime sales totals for other major Capcom franchises: Monster Hunter at 127 million units, Street Fighter at 59 million units, and Mega Man at 44 million units.

Capcom’s communications around the release cycle included commentary on creative decisions and community reaction.

Company staff noted that external design experiments and iterations helped the team refine character presentation for Requiem, saying that the outside input ultimately ensured the final design choices were correct.

In related promotional remarks, the director clarified that the new entry’s tone and direction should not be narrowly framed as a traditional “zombie movie,” emphasizing a broader creative intent for the title.

These figures reinforce Capcom’s position as a leading publisher with robust digital revenue streams and enduring franchise strength.

The combination of a high-selling new release and sustained catalog performance underpinned the company’s record results for the reported fiscal year.
