Ubisoft has proposed closing RedLynx, the Finnish studio behind the Trials motocross series, in a move tied to the publisher’s wider 2026 restructuring.

RedLynx, acquired by Ubisoft in 2011, rose to prominence with Trials HD on Xbox Live Arcade during the platform’s 2009 Summer of Arcade promotion and later developed sequels including Trials Evolution, Trials Fusion and Trials Rising.

In an internal announcement summarized by Ubisoft, the company said it informed staff of a proposal to wind down RedLynx’s Finland operations, a process that would affect as many as 52 positions and is subject to local change negotiation procedures.

Ubisoft emphasized it will support employees during the process.

The publisher also confirmed further staffing changes at Ubisoft Singapore, where 70 positions have been impacted as the studio is realigned to future production needs.

Ubisoft described Singapore as remaining an “important part” of its global production organization while noting the adjustments are intended to match upcoming project requirements.

RedLynx’s history includes both original development and support roles inside Ubisoft.

The studio is best known for its Trials series, which began as a successful Xbox Live Arcade title and expanded into multiple sequels across console and PC platforms.

More recently, RedLynx had supported other Ubisoft projects, including work on a Switch 2 port for Star Wars Outlaws developed by Massive Entertainment.

Following staff reductions in 2025, RedLynx confirmed a shift toward mobile development.

Ubisoft’s 2026 operating model centers on five “creative houses,” a structural change the company announced at the start of the year.

As part of that strategy, Ubisoft has cancelled six projects and outlined a renewed focus on open-world games, live service offerings and player-facing generative AI.

For Nintendo platforms, the Trials series remains notable for its origins on Xbox Live Arcade and for Trials Rising’s later availability on Nintendo Switch.

The proposed closure of RedLynx marks a significant development for fans of the franchise and for the Finnish development scene.

Ubisoft’s proposal to close RedLynx is subject to local consultation and negotiation; the company has stated it will conduct the process with care and provide support to affected employees.
