Rayman Legends Retold Nintendo Switch 2: Release Date, Features, and Official Details

Ubisoft has announced Rayman Legends Retold for Nintendo Switch 2, a modern reimagining of the studio's 2013 platformer Rayman Legends.

Led by Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan, the project adapts the original game's levels and characters to new 3D visuals, a brand-new story, and fully voiced cinematics.

Ubisoft confirmed that Rayman Legends Retold will release digitally on the Nintendo eShop and at retail worldwide on 1 October 2026 for Nintendo Switch 2.

Development and design

Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan are credited as the lead teams on Retold, building on the structure and charm of the 2013 release while updating presentation for Nintendo Switch 2.

The remake expands Rayman’s world with a never-before-seen sixth realm, new boss encounters, and redesigned levels that mix returning favorites with fresh content.

Players can tackle the campaign solo or in local co-op for up to four players, maintaining the franchise's cooperative focus.

Gameplay highlights and modes

Rayman Legends Retold adds new gameplay elements while preserving core mechanics such as leaping, gliding, and close combat.

The title features new musical stages, dragon ride sequences, and a Cave of Trials mode to test player skills.

Collectible Teensies remain part of the experience, and returning levels are refreshed alongside original themes retained in the expanded soundtrack.

Audio and creative team

The game's expanded soundtrack preserves fan-favourite themes and includes new compositions by Christophe Héral and Grant Kirkhope.

According to brand producer Loïc Gounon, the development team treated Retold as an opportunity to revisit and preserve the elements that make Rayman distinctive, while using Legends as a foundation to broaden Rayman’s lore, world logic, and character interactions for a new generation of players.

Editions, pre-order bonuses, and technical upgrades

Digital Standard and Deluxe editions of Rayman Legends Retold will include Rayman Origins: Enhanced Edition.

Ubisoft states that Origins: Enhanced Edition benefits from 4K resolution, 60 frames per second performance, additional collectibles and rewards, haptic feedback support for compatible controllers, and modern quality-of-life enhancements.

The physical Launch Edition will bundle the game with a Glade of Dreams printed map, three lithographs, and a slipcase.

Players who pre-order any edition will receive the Hoodlum Havoc Pack, which adds two costumes for Rayman and Globox inspired by Rayman 3: Hoodlum Havoc.
