Marketed as a “tactical counter-timeline RPG,” the title places players in a distorted Shibuya and promises a mix of strategic planning and high-speed combat.
Pre-order incentives and premise
Players who pre-order on the Nintendo eShop receive an early purchase bonus that includes three additional character skins for protagonists Hizuki Rena and Soma Hoshigami, plus access to an extra challenge mode called "Voidfall." Voidfall contains 16 high-difficulty battles with unique rewards reserved for early purchasers.
According to the publisher, the game’s narrative unfolds in a Tokyo overrun by supernatural anomalies and hostile entities.
Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow follows Soma Hoshigami, a young delivery driver who is attacked by a supernatural creature and transformed into a human-monster hybrid.
Soma is subsequently taken under the care of Rena Hizuki, an investigator assigned to the Metropolitan Police Department’s Public Anomalies Division.
Core systems and presentation
Developers describe the combat as a timeline-driven system that blends turn-based planning with action-oriented execution.
A dynamic timeline gauge exposes the timing and nature of incoming attacks, allowing players to program skills to intercept or counter opponents.
The interface lets players slow or pause time to analyze forecasts, manage cooldowns, and set up combos for precise tactical outcomes.
While the timeline supports deliberate strategy, the developers emphasize that mastery increases the game’s speed and intensity: experienced players can chain skills into aggressive, action-like sequences or adopt a more methodical approach against tougher bosses.
The game features full voice acting, a cel-shaded visual style enhanced by custom shaders to render the game’s aberrations, and an original soundtrack led by a pulse-driven opening theme and in-game insert songs.
