PowerA, a renowned leader in third-party gaming accessories, has announced the release of its new Advantage Wireless Controller for the Nintendo Switch 2.
This officially licensed controller stands out with premium features aimed at both casual and competitive players, positioning itself as a cost-effective alternative to Nintendo's own Pro Controller.
Launching at £54.99 in the UK and $69.99 in the US, the PowerA Advantage Wireless Controller taps into the next generation of Switch hardware while retaining full compatibility across all current Nintendo Switch models—including the original, Lite, and OLED versions.
The Advantage Wireless Controller is available in three striking designs: classic Black, Mario & Friends, and Pokémon: Mega Evolutions, appealing to a broad spectrum of Nintendo fans.
A major highlight is the inclusion of Hall Effect analogue sticks—advanced, contact-free magnetic sensors that offer smoother movement, enhanced precision, and increased lifespan compared to traditional sticks.
This technology directly addresses long-standing concerns about stick drift and wear, providing a superior tactile experience.
Echoing PowerA’s commitment to player-centric designs, the controller introduces mappable Advanced Gaming Buttons located on the back, allowing users to program custom actions instantly during gameplay—without needing to navigate complicated system menus.
It also features intuitive motion controls, enabling players to enjoy immersive aiming, steering, and navigation in compatible titles.
Additionally, a dedicated C button brings seamless access to GameChat features for enhanced communication.
Other practical enhancements include a rechargeable battery capable of delivering up to 30 hours of playtime per charge, with a conveniently long 10-foot USB-C cable for wired play and charging.
Ergonomics have been carefully considered, ensuring comfort for extended gaming sessions, complemented by high-quality materials that feel substantial in-hand.
The controller is fully compatible with the entire Nintendo Switch family—namely, the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, as well as the original Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch Lite, and Nintendo Switch OLED models.
In keeping with industry standards, the Advantage Wireless Controller has undergone Nintendo’s official licensure process.
However, as is customary with third-party accessories, some features—such as NFC support for amiibo and 'wake-up' connectivity for the Switch 2—are not included.
Still, with a launch price approximately $20 below the official Pro Controller, the Advantage Wireless Controller represents notable value.
Speaking on the launch, a PowerA representative explained that the focus was on delivering high durability and competitive features at an accessible price point, ensuring that players on all supported platforms could benefit from the latest in controller technology.
The PowerA Advantage Wireless Controller is available now through leading retailers and the PowerA website, providing a standout option for players seeking extra functionality and reliability for their Nintendo Switch gaming.
