Description

Pokémon fans have a new reason to celebrate, as The Pokémon Company has officially announced PokéPark Kanto, a first-of-its-kind outdoor Pokémon attraction set to open at Yomiuriland amusement park in Inagi, Tokyo in 2026.

This innovative project marks an exciting expansion of the Pokémon brand beyond its successful games, trading cards, and media, creating a physical world where fans can fully immerse themselves in the charm and adventure of the Pokémon universe.

The announcement was made during the Pokémon Presents Showcase, with The Pokémon Company’s Chief Creative Fellow, Junichi Masuda, offering an inside look at the park’s creative vision and concept design.

According to Masuda, PokéPark Kanto is being developed to evoke the feeling of actually living among Pokémon, capturing the essence of exploration and camaraderie that fans love. The park will be divided into two unique environments reflecting iconic landscapes from the Kanto region: a bustling town area and a lush forest zone.

In the town area, visitors will encounter familiar landmarks such as a Pokémon Center and a Poké Mart, echoing the look and feel of the towns found within the Pokémon video games, including those enjoyed on the Nintendo Switch.

The forest area has been designed as an open pathway weaving through nature, where guests can stroll among lifelike Pokémon statues strategically placed throughout to simulate the wonders of encountering Pokémon in the wild. Masuda shared that PokéPark Kanto aims to create a place where, "the world of Pokémon comes alive around every corner." The intention is for guests, whether lifelong fans or newcomers, to feel as though they are exploring a real-life Kanto region, bridging the gap between gaming and reality.

Yomiuriland, one of Tokyo’s most popular amusement parks, will serve as the venue for PokéPark Kanto.

The site selection is a strategic move, as Yomiuriland’s accessible location makes it a suitable destination for both domestic and international visitors, further strengthening Pokémon’s global cultural presence. PokéPark Kanto is scheduled to open its gates in 2026, with ticket sales expected to begin later this year.

The announcement comes as the franchise continues to celebrate multiple sales milestones across its core Nintendo platforms and merchandise lines, validating the ongoing demand for Pokémon experiences beyond the screen. For fans eager to be among the first visitors, now is the time to begin planning a trip to Tokyo’s Yomiuriland.

Stay tuned for further updates on ticket availability and additional park features as The Pokémon Company prepares for what promises to be a landmark event in the history of Pokémon and themed attractions.
