Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have confirmed that Pokémon Pokopia has sold more than five million units worldwide in "just over four months," according to an official press release issued following Nintendo's latest financial update.

The Switch 2 exclusive launched on March 5, 2026, and the sales figure covers both physical and digital formats.

Pokémon Pokopia was released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on 5 March 2026 and has been available digitally via the Nintendo eShop as well as in retail as a Game‑Key Card — a physical card that requires a download to play.

The companies said the five‑million total includes all physical and digital versions of the title.

Last week the game received a major content push with Version 2.0.0, which introduced free additions such as a new move called Dive.

Alongside that free update, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo released the first paid Expansion Pass chapter, titled "Bubbly Basin," which opens a new underwater area for players to explore.

In their announcement, the publishers outlined the Expansion Pass schedule: the initial paid chapter has launched, Part 2 is planned for late 2026 and will add further features, and Part 3 is slated for 2027 and will introduce an additional new town.

The companies framed these subsequent paid chapters and ongoing updates as the next steps in support for the title.

Industry reaction and press coverage have highlighted the game's rapid commercial performance and steady post‑launch support.

Nintendo's disclosure of the milestone came as part of routine financial communications last week and underscores Pokopia's role in the Switch 2 software lineup.

For players, the combination of a free update (Version 2.0.0) and the paid Expansion Pass delivers both cost‑free content and optional paid expansions.

The eShop continues to serve as the central distribution channel for digital purchases and downloads, while Game‑Key Cards remain the retail option for physical sales requiring an online download to access the full game.

As Pokémon Pokopia moves forward with its expansion schedule into late 2026 and 2027, Nintendo and The Pokémon Company will likely continue to report on sales and update timing in future financial and product announcements.
