Pokémon Pokopia Surpasses Four Million Sales on Nintendo Switch 2 in First Five Weeks

Nintendo confirmed that Pokémon Pokopia has sold more than four million copies worldwide since its launch on Nintendo Switch 2.

According to figures published in Nintendo’s financial results explanatory materials, the title—released on March 5, 2026—achieved global cumulative sell-through exceeding four million units in its first five weeks on the market.

In its report Nintendo noted that Pokémon Pokopia is drawing a broad demographic of players and highlighted strong usage of features that are exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2.

The company also said that continuing to release compelling, platform-specific titles is a strategic priority for demonstrating the appeal of Nintendo Switch 2 to existing and prospective players.

Pokémon Pokopia was co-developed by Game Freak and Koei Tecmo Games.

The game centres on a Ditto that assumes a human appearance and builds a new life alongside other Pokémon.

As Ditto, players explore environments, befriend Pokémon, and learn their moves—examples cited by developers include Bulbasaur’s Leafage to grow greenery and Squirtle’s Water Gun to revive dried plants—using those abilities to expand gameplay options and shape the world.

Key gameplay and technical features

- Life-simulation and town-building: collect materials, craft furniture, grow vegetables, and construct homes for Pokémon.

- Move learning and environmental interaction: acquire Pokémon moves to alter terrain and restore plant life.

- Social and multiplayer elements: develop a town, invite other players and Pokémon to visit.

- System-linked day-night cycle and weather: time and weather systems reflect real-world time and influence in-game locations.

- Switch 2-exclusive functionality: features such as GameShare are available on Nintendo Switch 2 and have been cited as frequently used by players.
