Pokémon Pokopia hits 5 million sales on Nintendo Switch 2

Pokémon Pokopia, the first Pokémon spin-off released for Nintendo Switch 2, has surpassed 5 million copies sold across digital downloads and physical game-key cards, The Pokémon Company has announced.

The cozy life-simulation title, co-developed by Game Freak and Koei Tecmo’s Omega Force, launched worldwide on March 5 and reached the milestone within approximately four months of release.

In a statement, The Pokémon Company confirmed that Pokémon Pokopia exceeded 5 million combined digital and physical sales since its March 5 launch.

The publisher also noted that the title ranks as the second highest-selling game on Nintendo Switch 2 to date, trailing only Mario Kart World, which debuted as a first-party launch title and was available in a bundle with the console.

Development and platform context

Pokémon Pokopia was developed through a collaboration between Game Freak, long known for the mainline Pokémon series, and Omega Force, the Koei Tecmo studio recognized for its Warriors franchise.

The game’s release on Nintendo Switch 2 included availability on the platform’s eShop as well as physical game-key cards, contributing to the combined sales figure announced by The Pokémon Company.

DLC rollout and future content

Bubbly Basin, Part One of the paid Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass, launched earlier this month, and the expansion schedule includes two additional paid parts that remain planned for release.

The expansion pass rollout is expected to be a focal point for the title’s ongoing post-launch support, with both digital and physical distribution channels remaining active for new and existing players.

Commercial significance

Reaching 5 million units in roughly four months places Pokémon Pokopia among the fastest-selling third-party-adjacent Pokémon spin-offs on the platform, according to the sales ranking furnished by The Pokémon Company.

The collaboration between Game Freak and Omega Force marks a notable development partnership, and the title’s performance highlights strong consumer interest in spin-off experiences on Nintendo Switch 2.

As The Pokémon Company continues to publish sales data and outline expansion timelines, retail and digital storefront listings such as the Nintendo eShop will remain the primary sources for purchase, update, and DLC information for Pokémon Pokopia.
