Pokémon Pokopia Expansion Pass Announced for Nintendo Switch 2 — Bubbly Basin Arrives in August 2026

The Pokémon Company International has confirmed a three-part paid Expansion Pass for Pokémon Pokopia on Nintendo Switch 2, with the first chapter, Bubbly Basin, scheduled to arrive in August 2026.

Co-developed by Game Freak and Koei Tecmo Games, Pokémon Pokopia is available now both at retail and digitally via the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide.

Expansion Pass rollout and schedule

The Expansion Pass is structured as three paid downloadable chapters.

The publisher stated the pass will begin with Bubbly Basin in August 2026, followed by a second installment in late 2026 and a final chapter in 2027.

This phased approach gives players episodic content additions to an already live title on Nintendo Switch 2.

Gameplay and systems

Pokémon Pokopia centers on a Ditto who adopts a human appearance and builds a new life alongside other Pokémon.

As Ditto, players can befriend Pokémon and learn their moves — for example, Bulbasaur’s Leafage can be used to grow greenery, and Squirtle’s Water Gun can revive dried-up plants.

Those abilities expand the player’s tools for environmental interaction and community building.

Players gather materials, craft furniture, cultivate vegetables, and construct homes to create inviting habitats for Pokémon.

Over time, the game allows players to develop a town and invite other players or Pokémon to visit.

The experience emphasizes a relaxed, slow-life simulation with a focus on creativity and community curation.

Technical features and world simulation

Pokémon Pokopia includes a day-night cycle tied to real-world time, dynamic weather effects, and distinct in-game locations with their own characteristics.

These systems support the Expansion Pass content, which will introduce new areas, items, and interactions starting with Bubbly Basin.

Publisher and developer context

The title is a collaboration between long-standing Pokémon developer Game Freak and action-RPG specialist Koei Tecmo Games, and it is published by The Pokémon Company International.

The Expansion Pass is confirmed as paid DLC for owners of Pokémon Pokopia on Nintendo Switch 2 and will be distributed through the Nintendo eShop and retail channels.

The announcement provides a clear timetable for post-launch support, with the community now able to plan for Bubbly Basin in August 2026 and further expansions across late 2026 and 2027.
