Season 14 of Pokémon Legends: Z-A brings a focused, all-Flying-type ruleset to Ranked Battles on Nintendo Switch, with new cosmetic and progression rewards aimed at reinforcing the aerial theme.

The Pokémon Company (TPC) continues to manage seasonal Ranked Battle rules for Z-A, and this iteration restricts eligible teams to Flying-type Pokémon while offering traditional progression items alongside themed rewards.

Season start and schedule

Season 14 begins on 16 July at 07:00 BST / 02:00 ET / 23:00 PT (15 July).

As with previous Ranked Battle seasons, players will be able to climb tiers and unlock rewards tied to their rank during the season window.

The preceding Ranked Battle season remains active up until 16 July, when Season 14 takes over.

Rules and rewards

Only Flying-type Pokémon are permitted to participate during Season 14.

Standard Ranked Battle progression rewards return, including Mega Stone items awarded as players advance through ranks.

In addition, this season introduces Pretty Feather cosmetic rewards to match the Flying-type theme.

Eligible Pokémon

TPC published the two eligible Pokédex lists for this season.

Eligible Pokémon drawn from the Lumiose Pokédex include: Fletchling, Fletchinder, Talonflame, Vivillon, Pidgey, Pidgeotto, Pidgeot, Gyarados, Swablu, Altaria, Dragonite, Charizard, Delibird, Scyther, Emolga, Hawlucha, Noibat, Noivern, Aerodactyl, Skarmory, Salamence, and Yveltal.

From the Hyperspace Pokédex, eligible entries include: Farfetch'd, Rotom (Fan only), Flamigo, Rookidee, Corvisquire, Corviknight, Starly, Staravia, Staraptor, Squawkabilly, Zubat, Golbat, Crobat, and Rayquaza.

Legendary restriction and structure

Players may register only one Legendary Pokémon on their battle team for the season; in Season 14 the permitted Legendaries are Yveltal or Rayquaza, but only one may be registered per team.

This constraint mirrors prior seasonal limits designed to preserve competitive balance.

Context and reception

Nintendo Life contributor Jim Norman described the all-Flying restriction as an interesting twist on Z-A's Ranked Battle format and expressed hope that TPC will continue to vary seasonal rules to keep the competitive experience fresh.

For players tracking Ranked Battle history, current season details, and past events, official season schedules and in-game notices remain the primary source for verified timing and eligibility information.
