The Pokemon Company has released new information on Pokemon Legends: Z-A, confirming the identification of two significant bugs and outlining their plan for critical fixes and upcoming updates to Ranked Battles in Season 2.
As the latest installment in one of the world's most popular franchises, Pokemon Legends: Z-A launched for both the Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, offering players expanded mechanics around Mega Evolution and competitive online play.
Following user reports and internal testing, The Pokemon Company stated that a patch is currently in development, scheduled for release in November, to resolve two recently discovered issues affecting gameplay progression and mission completion.
The company has provided an official summary of these critical bugs:
• In situations where a player's Pokemon Boxes are filled completely before their first Rogue Mega Evolution battle, and if the Boxes menu was never accessed prior to capacity, any subsequent attempt to catch Pokemon will fail.
Additionally, side missions that grant Pokemon will be marked as completed without actually providing the rewards, potentially leaving players without essential Pokemon.
• Another bug arises during specific side missions.
If the time of day shifts—transiting from day to night or vice versa—at the exact moment a move lands on its target, further attempts to hit the target will continually fail, rendering the progression of the affected mission impossible.
The Pokemon Company has assured players that these issues will be addressed in the forthcoming patch, with continuous monitoring in place to identify any further problems post-update.
In addition to bug fixes, extensive adjustments are planned for Ranked Battles in Season 2, particularly in relation to Mega Stones acquisition and reward balancing.
As detailed by The Pokemon Company:
• The rank-up reward structure for Mega Stones will be updated.
In Season 1, Greninjite was awarded as a K-rank rank-up reward; in Season 2, it will shift to S-rank—placing it eight ranks lower and subsequently more accessible.
Delphoxite will be introduced as the S-rank reward, and Greninjite will also return as a Y-rank rank-up reward, one tier above Z-rank.
• Mega Stone rewards will continue to be rotated and re-released across seasons to give more players opportunities to obtain them.
• Changes are forthcoming to the Ranked Battles point system.
Points awarded or lost upon match outcomes will be revisited to ensure a more balanced competitive experience.
Additionally, extra battle rewards will be added or increased to provide more incentives to participants.
Pokemon Legends: Z-A has continued to maintain a strong presence on both the Nintendo Switch eShop and Switch 2 digital storefronts since launch.
The proactive communication from The Pokemon Company and their ongoing support demonstrates a clear commitment to maintaining a stable and competitive environment for all players engaged in Mega Evolution battles and Ranked play.
Stay tuned for official patch release notes in November and further updates as the franchise continues to evolve on Nintendo's flagship hardware platforms.
