Pokémon HOME, the cloud-based Pokémon storage and transfer service from The Pokémon Company, launched in 2020 and serves as a central hub for moving creatures between supported titles and platforms.
The latest patch notes confirm the service now accepts Pokémon from Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen on Nintendo Switch, giving trainers a streamlined path to bring Generation III favorites into modern collections.
Patch-note highlights, rewritten for clarity:
- The update adds compatibility for Pokémon FireRed and Pokémon LeafGreen on the Nintendo Switch version of Pokémon HOME, enabling transfers from these classic Game Boy Advance titles where supported.
- Paid Premium Plan subscribers will now be able to deposit up to 9,000 Pokémon into Pokémon HOME, an increase from the previous 6,000.
The company states the Premium Plan price is not changing with this expansion of capacity.
- Pokémon HOME will cease support for 32-bit Android devices, aligning the app with current mobile architecture and security standards.
Users on older 32-bit Android phones and tablets should plan to upgrade hardware if they wish to continue using the app.
- The mythical Pokémon Celebi will become available in Pokémon HOME once a player completes the Pokédex within the service; completing the Pokédex will remove the block on Celebi for eligible accounts.
Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen originally launched for the Game Boy Advance as remakes of the original Red and Green titles and remain popular sources for Generation III Pokémon.
By enabling transfers from these titles, Pokémon HOME expands collectors’ options for consolidating legacy Pokémon into contemporary games and services on Nintendo Switch.
This update is significant for trainers who subscribe to Pokémon HOME’s Premium Plan and for anyone maintaining long-term collections across handheld and console generations.
Users should review the official Pokémon HOME patch notes in the app or on The Pokémon Company’s website for step-by-step instructions and any platform-specific requirements before attempting transfers.
