Pokémon Center Singapore Announces Temporary Closure and Revamp with Heritage-Inspired Design

In a significant update for Pokémon fans in Southeast Asia, The Pokémon Company has officially announced that Pokémon Center Singapore will undergo a temporary closure starting April 1, 2026.

The flagship retail outlet, housed in the bustling Jewel Changi Airport mall, will pause its operations for comprehensive renewal works aimed at reinvigorating the store’s appeal and connection with local visitors.

The renovation is scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2026. Pokémon Center Singapore, established in 2019 as the only official Pokémon Center outside of Japan, has become a key destination for both residents and travelers seeking exclusive Pokémon merchandise and themed experiences.

According to information from The Pokémon Company, the revamped store will feature “installations inspired by Singapore’s heritage alongside interior elements reflecting everyday local culture.” This development underscores Pokémon’s ongoing commitment to celebrating regional identity and engaging fans with unique, context-aware retail experiences. As part of the renewal, The Pokémon Company confirmed the introduction of “a new symbolic Pokémon that embodies the unique charm of Singapore.” While the current mascot is Lapras, it remains unclear whether the replacement will be an existing Pokémon from the franchise or one newly introduced in the upcoming Pokémon Winds and Waves game, which draws inspiration from Southeast Asian culture.

The move reflects a broader strategy within the Pokémon brand to localize store experiences and connect Pokémon lore to communities around the world. To ensure fans still have access to official merchandise while the main Pokémon Center undergoes refurbishment, The Pokémon Company will launch pop-up stores at two prominent locations.

Starting April 1, 2026, a temporary outlet will operate out of Changi Airport, and a second pop-up will open at Plaza Singapura mall from April 6, 2026.

These locations will offer a diverse range of Pokémon-themed products, apparel, and collectibles, ensuring that the vibrant Pokémon fanbase in Singapore can continue their journey uninterrupted. Pokémon Center Singapore’s renewal comes at a time of strong momentum for the franchise, following global sales successes on the Nintendo Switch platform and the continuous expansion of Pokémon content through Nintendo Direct announcements and exclusive eShop releases.

Fans and collectors are encouraged to stay updated via official Pokémon channels for more details on the new mascot and the store’s reopening timeline.
