The move affects players who use Pokémon Bank to store legacy Pokémon and to transfer them into Pokémon HOME, the cross-platform cloud service available on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
In its notice, The Pokémon Company made the core points clear: Pokémon Bank’s service will end at 12:00 PM on February 26, 2027, and the ability to transfer Pokémon from Pokémon Bank to Pokémon HOME will also end at that time.
Players who have Pokémon stored in Pokémon Bank are being advised to move those Pokémon into Pokémon HOME before the shutdown date to avoid loss of access.
The company also reiterated that new downloads for Pokémon Bank have already ended, transfers from Pokémon HOME back to Pokémon Bank are not supported, and PokéMile Points accrued through Pokémon Bank cannot be transferred to Pokémon HOME.
Rewriting the company’s announcement in journalistic terms: The Pokémon Company informed users that Pokémon Bank will cease operation on February 26, 2027, at noon, and that the Bank’s transfer function to Pokémon HOME will close concurrently.
Users must export any Pokémon they wish to retain to Pokémon HOME prior to that deadline; after the shutdown, Bank storage and transfer functions will no longer be available.
Additionally, Bank downloads are no longer offered, transfers into Bank from Pokémon HOME are impossible, and PokéMile Points on Bank cannot be migrated to HOME.
This announcement arrives alongside further updates for Pokémon HOME, including a confirmed plan to add support for Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen in October.
Pokémon HOME, which launched in 2020 as a successor to older transfer utilities, will remain the primary destination for players consolidating collections across modern Pokémon titles on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
What players should do now: if you still have Pokémon in Pokémon Bank, open Pokémon Bank and initiate transfers to Pokémon HOME immediately.
Verify that your Pokémon appear in Pokémon HOME and confirm any applicable mobility features before February 26, 2027.
For players tracking legacy titles and collection management, this deadline is the final window to preserve Bank-stored Pokémon via the official migration path.
