The move adds Kingformation's Dragon Force - Light Saga and Horng Shen's Rebel, two role-playing games first released in 1996 for the Super A'Can and other platforms.
Background: the Super A'Can and its library
The Super A'Can was manufactured by Funtech and released in 1995.
Built around the Motorola 68000 processor, the 2D-focused console arrived as 3D-capable systems such as the Sony PlayStation and Sega Saturn were already entering global markets.
High pricing and strong competition led to commercial failure, and Funtech discontinued the console and shuttered operations in 1998.
Today the Super A'Can and its cartridges are rare collector items, though preservation efforts and the open-source emulator MAME make many of the console's games playable on PC.
Piko's recent acquisitions and stated plans
On April 22, 2026, Piko Interactive announced it had acquired the rights to Dragon Force - Light Saga, specifying the acquisition covered the PC version and that the company considers the PC build identical to the original release.
On May 10, 2026, Piko confirmed it had also secured the rights to Rebel.
In a public social media post, the company indicated it is working on a project involving these properties and later noted that a cartridge release on Evercade was not proceeding because Evercade declined that approach.
Piko told our outlet it could not provide further details but confirmed plans to remaster the acquired titles in the future.
Owned Super A'Can IPs
Piko shared the full list of Super A'Can IPs it now controls: African Adventures, Speedy Dragon, Formosa Duel, Super Taiwanese Baseball League, Gambling Lord, Dragon Force - Light Saga/Super Dragon Force (PC version specifically), and Rebel.
What this means for players and platforms
Piko has not announced platform targets or release windows for remasters, and there are no confirmed plans for Nintendo Switch, eShop, or Nintendo Direct presentations at this time.
The company’s focus on remastering and rights consolidation mirrors broader retro preservation trends, and observers will be watching for concrete platform and release details.
We will update this report if Piko or other partners disclose further information.
