Pikmin Day Direct: Pikmin 4 Demo Announced for Nintendo Switch Edition
Intro
Pikmin Day — observed annually on November 1 — is Nintendo’s unofficial celebration of the Pikmin franchise, which began with Shigeru Miyamoto’s original Pikmin in 2001.
The series is developed and published by Nintendo (with core development led by Nintendo EPD) and has been a regular presence on Nintendo platforms, most recently with Pikmin 4 for Nintendo Switch, which launched on July 21, 2023.
Nintendo frequently uses Nintendo Direct broadcasts and the Nintendo eShop to spotlight franchise milestones, demos, and special promotions.
What Nintendo showed on Pikmin Day
During a Pikmin Day-themed Nintendo Direct presentation, Nintendo used the event to highlight franchise activities and releases.
In journalistic terms, Nintendo stated that it had prepared a Pikmin Day-focused Direct and announced a playable demo build for an upcoming edition of Pikmin 4.
The company said the demo would be made available on November 2 on the Nintendo eShop, ahead of a planned November 12 release for the titled package mentioned in the Direct — billed as “Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy.”
Journalistic rewrite of the notable statement
Nintendo told viewers in the Pikmin Day Direct that a special demo of Pikmin 4 would go live on the Nintendo eShop on November 2, giving players an early hands-on opportunity prior to the edition’s scheduled November 12 launch.
The presentation framed the release as a commemorative Pikmin Day offering designed to introduce new features and the Dandori Academy component to fans.
