Demonschool Brings Unique School-Life Tactics RPG Action to Nintendo Switch in 2025

Ysbryd Games and Necrosoft Games have unveiled a brand new trailer for Demonschool, the highly anticipated school-life tactics RPG set to launch on Nintendo Switch through the Nintendo eShop in Q3 2025.

This upcoming title stands out with its distinctive blend of horror, strategy gameplay, and vibrant visual style, promising an engaging journey for fans of both classic and contemporary RPGs. Developed by Necrosoft Games and published by Ysbryd Games, Demonschool places players in the role of Faye, a university freshman with a mysterious heritage as the last known descendant of an ancient family of demon hunters.

Unlike typical school settings, Faye’s daily life on Jabberwock Island is filled with supernatural mysteries, ranging from eerie disappearances to ritualistic disturbances.

Accompanied by a diverse cast of friends, she tackles assignments that require both academic focus and paranormal expertise. Creative director Brandon Sheffield of Necrosoft Games detailed the team’s dedication to world-building in Demonschool.

Sheffield stated that the development team invested significant effort into making Jabberwock Island a compelling environment, laden with a variety of class-based and demon-related tasks, interactive characters, as well as numerous mini-games to keep players immersed throughout a semester at school. Demonschool draws clear inspiration from genre-defining titles such as Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, mixed with aesthetic influences from 1960s and 1970s Italian horror cinema.

The result is an evocative, stylized world steeped in bizarre visuals and a dynamic soundtrack—elements that create a surreal atmosphere, even during its most tense and eerie moments. The game’s combat system is “streamlined”—blending tactics and RPG mechanics with a unique movement-based action system.

Players are able to plot their party members’ actions at their own pace before launching synchronized, character-driven combos.

Unlike conventional tactics games, Demonschool allows players to undo moves and avoids the more cumbersome genre conventions, making for a faster and more approachable experience. As students progress through the academic year, their choices influence key aspects of gameplay, including skill development, new team member recruitment through side missions, and the fostering of relationships—ranging from camaraderie to romance.
