Capcom has issued a final launch trailer for Onimusha: Way of the Sword as the action title arrives on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch.

The studio released the trailer to coincide with the game's worldwide release, giving players a last look at its samurai combat, setting, and narrative hooks.

A modern entry in Capcom's long-running Onimusha lineage, Onimusha: Way of the Sword places players in a darker, supernatural version of Edo-period Kyoto.

Capcom frames the game as a gritty sword-action experience in which players fight through bloodstained battlefields and twisted city streets corrupted by a supernatural force called Malice.

The developer says the campaign centers on battles against the Genma, otherworldly foes drawn from the underworld whose arrival has plunged Kyoto into panic.

In publisher statements accompanying the trailer, Capcom describes protagonist Miyamoto Musashi as an ardent young samurai who arrives in Kyoto seeking to prove his supremacy with the sword, only to find his path diverted by the city's mysterious afflictions.

The company also notes that Musashi wields an Oni Gauntlet, a mystical artifact that grants him in-game abilities such as absorbing Genma souls and converting them into power to augment his combat prowess.

Capcom additionally confirmed that the character model for this iteration of Musashi is deliberately evocative of classic samurai cinema; the publisher cites the late actor Toshiro Mifune as the face-model inspiration for the protagonist's design.

The studio's promotional materials emphasize close-quarters duels and bloody one-on-one confrontations against foes whose skill rivals Musashi's.

The game world includes real-world landmarks rendered through the lens of the title's dark fantasy aesthetic, with Kyoto locations such as Kiyomizu-dera depicted as eerie, Malice-twisted versions of their historical selves.

Capcom's trailer focuses on atmospheric set pieces, cinematic swordplay, and enemy encounters designed to underscore the game's blend of historical setting and supernatural elements.

The launch trailer was published alongside the game's release and is available from Capcom's official channels.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword is out now on multiple platforms, including Nintendo Switch.
