Capcom has officially confirmed that Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny Remastered will arrive on Nintendo Switch and other major platforms on May 23, 2025.
The news was unveiled during Sony's recent 'State of Play' broadcast, accompanied by a new trailer demonstrating the enhancements made to this beloved action-adventure classic.
Pre-orders for the digital edition are already live on the Nintendo eShop, with the remaster set at a price of $29.99 USD (regional equivalents apply) and estimated to require 14.6 GB of storage space.
Originally released for the PlayStation 2 in 2002, Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny quickly established itself as a genre-defining title, selling over 2.1 million copies worldwide—a milestone for the franchise.
The game drew attention for its cinematic storytelling and action-driven swordplay, with its protagonist, Jubei Yagyu, modeled after the acclaimed Japanese actor Yusaku Matsuda.
Capcom’s remaster continues this tradition, bringing the adventure through feudal Japan to a new generation of players on the Nintendo Switch.

Additional features include a new Gallery mode with over 100 pieces of concept art from character designer Keita Amemiya and a digital soundtrack selection containing all 43 tracks from the game’s original score.
Veteran fans will appreciate the inclusion of Hell mode difficulty, as well as the immediate availability of several mini-games—The Man in Black, Team Oni, and Puzzle Phantom Realm—from the outset.
Moreover, a save data bonus offers returning players an exclusive outfit for Jubei; it becomes accessible through the title-screen menu if Onimusha: Warlords save data is detected on the Switch system.
According to Capcom, players can switch Jubei’s costume under the Special Features menu, with the change being cosmetic only and not affecting gameplay stats.
Capcom’s official statements emphasize that the remaster retains the core settings and gameplay systems that made the original a critical and commercial success.
