Description

Old School Rally, the highly anticipated retro rally racing game developed by Frozen Lake Games and published by Astrolabe Games, is set to speed onto the Nintendo Switch platform this holiday season.

In an official announcement today, both companies confirmed that racing fans can look forward to an authentic tribute to the golden age of rally, complete with a host of modern enhancements and nostalgic charm. Old School Rally delivers an arcade-style racing experience reminiscent of the late 1990s rally games, blending carefully crafted retro visuals with exhilarating, fast-paced gameplay.

Players will be able to choose from a garage of over 30 unique rally cars, each designed with inspiration from legendary vehicles of the past.

The game features special stages spread across 10 diverse countries, and more than 22 global racing tracks that test driving skills across a variety of surfaces including dirt, tarmac, and snow. For those eager to sample the action before launch, a playable demo for Old School Rally will become available on the Nintendo eShop starting July 10.

This early access gives fans a chance to experience the game’s core mechanics, test out driving maneuvers, and enjoy the nostalgic atmosphere, all ahead of the official release later this year. In a statement shared by the publishers, Old School Rally is positioned as both a revival and an upgrade of classic rally gameplay, delivering high-speed thrills for both longtime enthusiasts and new players alike.

The full version will boast nearly 50 unlockable items, a rousing soundtrack featuring over 30 original tracks, and ongoing feature updates to refine the overall experience.

For completionists and competitive racers, the title includes online leaderboards and a comprehensive achievements system to keep players engaged long after launch. Astrolabe Games and Frozen Lake Games have also confirmed that physical editions of Old School Rally are in development, with plans to distribute them across major global markets, ensuring that collectors and fans will have options beyond digital release. A final release date for Old School Rally on Nintendo Switch will be announced closer to launch.

In the meantime, rally racing fans can stay updated by watching the official announcement trailer and keeping an eye on the Nintendo eShop for the demo’s release.

As the Nintendo Switch continues to expand its lineup of retro-inspired experiences, Old School Rally promises to stand out as a must-play for anyone craving classic racing action with a modern twist.
