Description

Nintendo Switch 2 Sets Record as Fastest-Selling Nintendo Console Worldwide Nintendo has achieved a groundbreaking milestone with the launch of its next-generation gaming hardware, the Nintendo Switch 2.

Following its global release on June 5, the Nintendo Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling console in the company’s history, moving more than 3.5 million units worldwide within the first four days of availability.

This performance showcases the enduring appeal of Nintendo’s innovative gaming platforms and the brand’s ability to deliver compelling experiences for players everywhere, both at home and on the go. The Nintendo Switch 2 builds on the legacy of its predecessor with several major hardware enhancements.

Gamers now enjoy an expanded, high-definition screen capable of delivering full 1080p resolution in handheld mode, and up to 4K output when docked to a compatible television or monitor.

Under the hood, a faster processor drives improved graphical fidelity and smoother gameplay, while redesigned magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers introduce mouse-like precision alongside classic motion controls.

One of the most significant additions is GameChat, an all-new communication feature.

Through GameChat, players can connect via voice or video calls, as well as share game screens in real time, creating a virtual living room for friends and family regardless of distance.

According to Nintendo of America President and COO Doug Bowser, “Players worldwide have embraced Nintendo Switch 2 as the next evolution in versatile gaming.

We appreciate their excitement and are thrilled to see user communities exploring new games and features that foster joyful connections.” Nintendo Switch 2 launched alongside Mario Kart World, a major new entry in the beloved franchise.

For the first time, Mario Kart World introduces an interconnected, open-world map where players can drive across cities, fields, deserts, and even oceans.

The game boasts dynamic weather, multiple new modes, and supports up to 24 drivers in a single race—pushing the limits of what fans expect from the series. Looking ahead, Nintendo will release Donkey Kong Bananza exclusively for Nintendo Switch 2 on July 17.

This new 3D platformer promises action-packed adventure as players take control of Donkey Kong and explore wild, destructible environments.

The Nintendo Switch 2 is available now at a suggested retail price of $449.99.

Consumers can also choose a bundle that includes a digital copy of Mario Kart World for $499.99.

Both configurations can be found at retailers and via Nintendo’s official store. For more details about Nintendo Switch 2, including a full list of compatible games and accessories, visit Nintendo.com.

Online features such as GameChat require a Nintendo Switch Online membership and Nintendo Account after March 31, 2026; additional requirements and regional availability may apply.
