Nintendo has officially confirmed that US pre-orders for the highly anticipated Nintendo Switch 2 will begin on April 24, 2025.
This marks a significant milestone for the next generation of Nintendo hardware, as fans across the United States can finally secure their consoles ahead of the global launch.
The Nintendo Switch 2 builds on the legacy of the original Nintendo Switch, which has sold over 140 million units worldwide since its debut in 2017, and introduces a new era of hybrid gaming experiences.
According to the announcement, the Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in the US at the previously announced price of $449.99.
For those seeking bundled value, a Nintendo Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle remains available at $499.99.
Players looking to dive into Nintendo’s key first-party titles can expect Mario Kart World priced at $79.99 and Donkey Kong Bananza at $69.99, with both physical and digital versions retaining their launch prices.
Retail pre-orders open April 24, allowing customers to reserve their Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, bundles, and games at major US retailers and through the Nintendo eShop.
The company issued a statement acknowledging the previous delay in pre-order availability, stating, "We apologize for the delay and hope this decision reduces uncertainty for our customers.
We appreciate their patience and are excited to share the Nintendo Switch 2 experience beginning June 5, 2025."
While main console and game prices remain stable, updated pricing for Nintendo Switch 2 accessories reflects "changes in market conditions," according to Nintendo.
Most accessory prices have increased by approximately $5.
For example, the Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller will now retail for $84.99, up from $79.99.
Other notable adjustments include the Joy-Con 2 Pair at $94.99 (previously $89.99), the Joy-Con 2 Charging Grip at $39.99 (was $34.99), and the Nintendo Switch 2 Dock Set at $119.99 (up from $109.99).
Loyalists looking to upgrade can also expect revised prices on items such as the Joy-Con 2 Wheel Set, Carrying Case & Screen Protector, and All-In-One Carrying Case.
Not all accessories have seen price increases.
The Samsung microSD Express Card – 256GB, optimized for the Nintendo Switch 2, remains at $59.99.
Game pricing for both Mario Kart World and Donkey Kong Bananza is likewise unchanged, providing consistency for fans lining up for their next big Nintendo experiences.
The Nintendo Switch 2 is poised to cement its influence on the gaming landscape by building upon the success of its predecessor and delivering new gameplay innovations.
As the US pre-order window opens on April 24, 2025, Nintendo fans and industry watchers alike will be watching closely to see how this new chapter unfolds.
