Nintendo 3DS Online Services Scheduled for Maintenance: Switch and Switch 2 Unaffected

Nintendo has released its latest maintenance schedule, confirming planned network downtime exclusively for the Nintendo 3DS family of systems during the week of November 23, 2025.

Industry observers and long-time fans will note that this maintenance session does not impact the Nintendo Switch or the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, marking a rare case where only legacy hardware is addressed. The scheduled maintenance for the Nintendo 3DS network services will take place on November 24, 2025, impacting multiple global regions.

Service downtime is set to begin at 3 PM PT and conclude by 4:30 PM PT for North American users.

For East Coast users, the window spans 6 PM to 7:30 PM ET.

In the UK, the affected hours run from 11 PM on November 24 to 12:30 AM on November 25.

For mainland Europe, the network downtime occurs between 12 AM and 1:30 AM on November 25. According to Nintendo’s official statement, the maintenance session targets “all network services” on the 3DS, temporarily affecting online connectivity, eShop access, and related web-based features for users still active on the system.

The Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 will remain online and accessible throughout this maintenance window. Nintendo’s commitment to maintaining its legacy platforms stands out, especially considering the 3DS originally launched in 2011 and was succeeded by the Nintendo Switch in 2017.

Despite discontinuing new 3DS hardware shipments in 2020, Nintendo continues to provide periodic support for the system’s remaining online player base.

Previous maintenance windows for the 3DS have focused on ensuring stability for online play, friend services, and the Nintendo eShop, which remains accessible in a limited capacity for existing users. With the latest maintenance schedule, Nintendo encourages users to plan ahead for the scheduled online downtime.

For ongoing updates, players can track real-time maintenance reports through official Nintendo support channels and dedicated resources.

The company’s proactive communication aims to minimize disruption while ensuring long-term network reliability for its hardware platforms. This maintenance session underlines Nintendo’s longstanding tradition of supporting its diverse hardware ecosystem, from the celebrated Nintendo 3DS to the current Nintendo Switch and the anticipated Nintendo Switch 2.

Users are advised to save progress in online games and plan downloads outside of the posted hours for uninterrupted gaming experiences.
