Nintendo is expanding its Super Mario 40th anniversary merchandise with a new themed pin set that will be distributed through select retailers, continuing promotional activity tied to the franchise’s milestone. The set joins earlier anniversary items and digital promotions that Nintendo has rolled out as part of the wider celebration around Mario.
The retail pin package contains four character pins plus a Super Mario Bros. 40th anniversary logo pin. The character pins feature Giga Cat Mario from Bowser's Fury, Tanooki Mario from Super Mario Bros. 3, Propeller Mario from New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and a Mario & Luma pin inspired by Super Mario Galaxy. Several of the individual pin designs have appeared in previous anniversary or promotional pin collections.
The social account Nintendeal first highlighted the retail offering, noting that the new set will be available at a limited selection of stores rather than a broad nationwide release. Nintendo previously offered a separate 40th anniversary pin set on its official Nintendo Store in North America earlier this year; that earlier set was available through the My Nintendo rewards program.
This retail release follows Nintendo’s broader 40th anniversary program, which kicked off last year. As part of those celebrations, Nintendo announced re-releases and special editions tied to the Mario catalog, issued new amiibo figures, added content to Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and confirmed a new Yoshi title. The Super Mario Galaxy Movie was also released earlier this year, extending the property’s presence across film and gaming platforms.
For collectors and fans who track limited-run merchandise, the retail pin set represents another opportunity to own official anniversary memorabilia outside of Nintendo’s direct-store channels and loyalty rewards. Availability is limited by retailer participation, so interested buyers should monitor announcements from participating stores and official Nintendo channels for on-sale details.
This release underscores Nintendo’s strategy of combining digital offerings, software re-releases, amiibo drops, and physical collectibles to mark major franchise milestones such as Mario’s 40th anniversary.
