Nintendo Expands Retail Presence with New Official Store in Fukuoka, Japan
Nintendo has officially announced the opening of its fourth company-operated retail store in Japan, underscoring the gaming giant's ongoing commitment to a hands-on retail experience for fans and consumers.
Slated to open by the end of 2025, the new location—dubbed "Nintendo FUKUOKA"—will be located within JR Hakata City’s Amu Plaza, a major shopping destination in Fukuoka.
This strategic expansion marks the first time a Nintendo retail store is set to open on Kyushu Island, broadening the company's direct-to-consumer reach beyond its established presence on Honshu, where its renowned Nintendo TOKYO, Nintendo OSAKA, and Nintendo KYOTO stores are already operational.
Fukuoka, the capital of Fukuoka Prefecture and Japan’s sixth-largest city, offers Nintendo a significant opportunity to engage with fans in the southwestern region of the country.
A representative statement from Nintendo confirmed, "We are pleased to announce that our next official Nintendo store will be opening in late 2025 at JR Hakata City’s Amu Plaza in Fukuoka."
Nintendo’s retail strategy has proven successful both domestically and abroad.
Beyond its home country, the company operates flagship stores in New York and, most recently, San Francisco—each offering exclusive merchandise, hands-on access to Nintendo Switch hardware and games, as well as unique in-store events.
The addition of the Fukuoka store continues this trend, providing fans with a localized hub for the Nintendo Switch ecosystem, curated products, and official brand experiences.
Since launching its first official store in Tokyo in 2019, Nintendo has continued to build a robust retail network, blending product launches, memorabilia, and community engagement.
The stores—often frequented by local and international tourists—have become destinations for hands-on experiences with new games featured in Nintendo Direct showcases and access to legacy games through the eShop.
While detailed information about unique offerings or opening events for Nintendo FUKUOKA has yet to be released, the confirmed location within JR Hakata City positions the new store in a high-traffic, accessible area, ideal for maximizing public engagement.
Fans can expect future updates from Nintendo through official channels, including their widely followed Nintendo Direct presentations and social media accounts.
The addition of the Fukuoka store reaffirms Nintendo’s strategy to connect directly with its audience, enhancing access to its suite of games, hardware, and beloved intellectual properties.
As the end of 2025 approaches, more details are anticipated about the grand opening and what exclusive experiences the Nintendo FUKUOKA store will bring to fans on Kyushu Island.
