This week’s European Nintendo eShop update delivers a robust lineup for Switch, 3DS, and Wii U users, anchored by the much-anticipated debut of Stardew Valley on the Nintendo Switch.
Nintendo continues its commitment to providing fresh, cross-platform content, enticing new players and longtime fans alike with a balance of indie hits, innovative adventures, and classic titles—complete with numerous discounts and downloadable content (DLC).
**Nintendo Switch eShop: Stardew Valley Launches for Portable Play**
Stardew Valley, developed by Chucklefish, headlines the Nintendo Switch eShop’s latest arrivals, making its first appearance on a Nintendo portable system at €13.99 / £10.99.
After high demand since its announcement earlier this year, Stardew Valley’s Switch debut brings its imaginative twist on farming and life simulation to gamers on the move.
Players can grow crops, build relationships, and explore dungeons in this nod to the Harvest Moon series, now enhanced with the convenience of Switch portability.
Other notable Switch eShop launches include *Lovers in a Dangerous Spacetime* (Asteroid Base), a cooperative space adventure offering frantic multiplayer action; *Axiom Verge* (Thomas Happ Games), an acclaimed Metroidvania revered for its innovative "glitch" mechanics; and *Oxenfree* (Night School), a narrative-driven thriller that incorporates a real-time conversation system and supernatural radio puzzles.
*Oxenfree* launches on Switch from 6th October, expanding its original 2016 console footprint.
In addition to these headline titles, the Switch welcomes *Earth Atlantis* (Headup Games), the color-infused puzzler *Tumblestone* (The Quantum Astrophysicists Guild), local multiplayer brawler *Ninja Shodown* (Rising Star Games), and the brutal retro-inspired platformer *Volgarr the Viking* (Crazy Viking).
Series fans can revisit *Metal Slug X* (HAMSTER), a remixed classic that addresses earlier technical issues and has been praised in multiple Virtual Console reviews.
Quirky auto-runner *Tower of Babel* (EnjoyUp Games) rounds out the lineup.
Demos for *Just Dance 2018* (Ubisoft) and *Spelunker Party!* (Square Enix, available 7th October) are available gratis, while downloadable content (DLC) options include the *Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle: Pixel Pack* and free updates for *Infinite Minigolf* (Zen Studios).
**Nintendo 3DS: Revamps, Mystery, and Strategic Card Battles**
The Nintendo 3DS eShop sees three major retail releases vying for attention: *Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions* (Nintendo), *Layton's Mystery Journey: Katrielle and the Millionaires' Conspiracy* (Level-5), and *Culdcept Revolt* (NIS America).
These join a fresh retro-style RPG entry in *Symphony of Eternity* (KEMCO).
Players interested in additional customizations will find a sizeable list of DLCs for both *Layton's Mystery Journey* and *Culdcept Revolt*, as well as temporary discounts on Nintendo and indie favorites like the *BOXBOY!* trilogy and several Gamelion titles.
**Wii U: Classics and Discounts Continue**
Wii U users aren’t left out, with *Volgarr the Viking* arriving alongside classic TurboGrafx-16 titles *Double Dungeons* (EXTREME) and *Vigilante* (IREM) on the Virtual Console.
Retailer discounts include deep cuts on *3Souls* (Red Column), *Ascent of Kings* (Nostatic Software), and *Wicked Monsters Blast: HD PLUS* (Corecell), among others.
Demos for titles such as *Just Dance 2018* are freely available, ensuring Wii U players have a sample of new releases while the platform’s digital catalog continues to grow.
