Nintendo Announces The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Sweepstakes Featuring Defenders of the Triforce Experience

Nintendo has officially unveiled The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sweepstakes, offering fans a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the beloved fantasy world through a real-life event, Defenders of the Triforce.

The announcement, made via Nintendo of America's Twitter account on January 31, 2017, invites participants to win an all-expenses-paid trip to this special Zelda-themed adventure, celebrating one of the most enduring franchises in Nintendo's history. Defenders of the Triforce is a collaboration with SCRAP, known for their real-life escape room experiences, designed to let attendees solve puzzles and interact with iconic items and characters from The Legend of Zelda series.

This event was scheduled to take place in major U.S.

cities, including Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Diego, Seattle, Houston, Chicago, New York, and San Francisco between January and May 2017.

As the anticipation for The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild reached new heights ahead of its Nintendo Switch and Wii U release, Nintendo’s sweepstakes added another layer of excitement for fans eager to engage with the franchise beyond the virtual world. To participate in the sweepstakes, entrants are required to have a Twitter account.

The process is straightforward: users must log in to Twitter and retweet the official sweepstakes message from @NintendoAmerica, which reads: “#NintendoSweepstakes #SCRAPZelda RT to enter for a chance to win a trip to Defenders of the Triforce.” Limit one entry per person is permitted, ensuring fairness in the random selection process.

Those who are not already registered with Twitter may sign up at www.twitter.com. According to the official rules, the sweepstakes will conclude with the selection of one Grand Prize winner and five First Place winners on or about February 8, 2017.

Winners will be chosen at random from all eligible entries and contacted through email or direct message.

To claim their prize, recipients must follow the instructions included in the notification and respond within two days of being informed. The Grand Prize is a comprehensive package that includes four round-trip coach airline tickets (or ground transportation if within 200 miles), two nights’ hotel lodging (two rooms, double occupancy), four tickets to attend Defenders of the Triforce in the city of the winner's choosing, and a $500 prepaid VISA or American Express debit card.

The total approximate retail value of the trip package is $3,540 USD.

If the Grand Prize winner is unable or unwilling to travel, an alternate will be selected from the First Prize winners. Winners may also be announced on Nintendo’s official social media platforms, including Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter.
