Pokémon Legends Z-A: Mega Evolutions and Ranked Battles Revealed in New Trailer Pokémon Legends Z-A has captured the attention of the gaming community once again, as The Pokémon Company International unveiled an exciting new trailer detailing fresh gameplay features and mechanics.

Scheduled for release on October 16, 2025, for both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2, Pokémon Legends Z-A expands on the series’ legacy with the return of Mega Evolutions, a comprehensive Ranked Battle system, and a reimagined setting in the heart of Lumiose City. Mega Evolutions Return: Classic Pokémon Rekindled A major highlight of the latest trailer is the confirmation that Mega Evolutions—first introduced to fans through Pokémon X and Pokémon Y—will play an integral role in Pokémon Legends Z-A.

Players can access Mega Evolutions for Pokémon such as Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja, thanks to special Mega Stones.

These Mega Stones—namely Chesnaughtite, Delphoxite, and Greninjite—can be earned via the Z-A Battle Club by advancing through the ranks in the game’s online Ranked Battles.

This system rewards players’ skill and dedication, reinvigorating a popular battle mechanic that has become a fan favorite across the franchise. Ranked Battles: Competitive Play and Unique Rewards Pokémon Legends Z-A introduces an in-depth Ranked Battles mode where trainers from around the globe can test their strategies and build competitive teams.

The game’s online competition structure provides three distinct reward tiers: battle rewards, which are granted after each match; promotion rewards, awarded upon climbing to a higher rank; and season rewards, distributed based on final seasonal standings.

According to The Pokémon Company, Mega Stones for featured Pokémon serve as key incentives for top competitors within the Z-A Battle Club, bringing extra motivation to climb the competitive ladder. A New Chapter in Lumiose City Set against the vibrant backdrop of Lumiose City—currently undergoing an ambitious urban redevelopment to foster harmony between humans and Pokémon—Pokémon Legends Z-A promises a refreshing narrative direction.

Early on, players will choose one of three partner Pokémon: Chikorita, Tepig, or Totodile.

Each of these starter Pokémon brings their own unique strengths to aid players as they navigate the evolving city and its new challenges.
