The Pokémon Company has officially revealed the title and logo for its next animated entry: Pokémon Horizons: The Series.

Announced alongside a full-length trailer released March 24, 2023, the new series is slated to begin its global rollout in 2023 and beyond, following the conclusion of Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series — which culminated with Ash Ketchum’s win as Pokémon World Champion.

The trailer introduces dual protagonists Liko and Roy and foregrounds a narrative built around exploration and discovery.

Liko is shown traveling with partner Pokémon Sprigatito, while other characters and their partners are introduced across the footage.

Among the groups highlighted is the Rising Volt Tacklers, led by Friede and a Captain Pikachu.

The Tacklers travel by airship and include Orla, an enthusiast of mechanical and electrical work whose partner is Metagross; Murdock, a skilled cook partnered with Rockruff; Mollie, a healer partnered with Chansey; and Ludlow.

The trailer also introduces Amethio, who travels with Ceruledge and belongs to an organization known as the Explorers, and a popular video streamer called Nidothing.

In journalistic terms, Taito Okiura, vice president of marketing for The Pokémon Company International, framed the new series as a fresh chapter for the franchise: he said Pokémon Horizons will take viewers on a wide-ranging journey to new places in the Pokémon world, that the trailer supplies an early look at those mysteries, and that fans outside Japan can expect to see the series premiere later in the year.

Pokémon Horizons arrives as the Pokémon franchise remains active across Nintendo hardware and software.

The series launch follows recent mainline game releases on Nintendo Switch — including Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which released in November 2022 — cementing the brand’s cross-media presence on Nintendo platforms and in streaming and broadcast outlets.

The Pokémon Company has stated that more details about Pokémon Horizons: The Series — including additional episode information and international distribution plans — will be announced in the future.

For now, the March 24 trailer is the first extended look at Liko, Roy, the Rising Volt Tacklers, and the broader roster of characters set to populate the series’ world.
