Nintendo confirmed new Legend of Zelda features for the Nintendo Museum in Kyoto and updates to its Nintendo Today app during The Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Direct.

The announcements, highlighted by series creator Shigeru Miyamoto, outline timed experiences at the museum and digital content aimed at fans celebrating four decades of the franchise.

Beginning September 9, the Nintendo Museum will distribute specially designed Legend of Zelda admission tickets.

Miyamoto said the new tickets will be issued from September 9 and remain available for roughly one year.

The museum will also install a dedicated history board that chronicles earlier entries in the Zelda series, giving visitors a curated timeline of the franchise's development.

From November 5, the museum introduces a Zelda-themed photo opportunity centered on the Master Sword.

Miyamoto described the installation as a new, photo-focused attraction that places the Master Sword at its core.

New images shown during the Direct also preview the museum’s upcoming Super Family Restaurant, previously announced in June; Nintendo confirmed the restaurant will open in Autumn 2026 and will include a statue of Link as part of its décor.

On the digital front, the Nintendo Today app receives a refresh on September 9 with Zelda-themed calendar animations.

The app will also add daily digital collectible cards based on the series, allowing users to collect one card per day.

Nintendo will use the app as a primary channel to share additional updates about the forthcoming live-action Legend of Zelda film.

Miyamoto confirmed the film’s title will not include a subtitle and said audiences will understand why when they see it.

These museum and app updates arrive as Nintendo continues broader 40th-anniversary activities for the series.

Related initiatives include a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary Concert series scheduled to begin touring in early 2027, and merchandise drops such as newly announced Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo tied to the Ocarina of Time remake.

The museum and app additions underscore Nintendo’s multi-platform celebration strategy—blending physical exhibits in Kyoto with recurring digital content to engage longtime fans and newcomers alike as the franchise marks 40 years.
