Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled Update Adds Beenox Pack and New Features on Nintendo Switch

Activision and developer Beenox have continued to support the acclaimed kart racer Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled on Nintendo Switch, unveiling a robust new update that will delight dedicated players.

Although the Grand Prix seasons have drawn to a close, Beenox remains committed to delivering fresh content and additional features for fans of Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled, ensuring the game maintains its energetic, competitive edge on the Nintendo platform. The update, available now on Nintendo Switch and supported platforms, prominently features the new "Beenox Pack"—a complimentary set of in-game rewards provided to all Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled players as a gesture of appreciation.

Upon downloading the latest update, players will automatically unlock characters such as Geary and Crunch (if not already obtained), along with Beenox-inspired skins for iconic characters like Crash Bandicoot, Dr.

Neo Cortex, Crunch, and—for the first time—a Legendary skin for Geary.

The Pack further expands customization options, offering a unique Beenox-themed kart, paintjob, sticker, and wheels. The competitive spirit persists after the conclusion of Grand Prix challenges, thanks to the introduction of the "Wumpa Challenge" system.

This brings daily, weekly, and monthly challenges that reward players with Wumpa Coins for completing various in-game tasks.

Signature challenge types such as "Ghost Hunt"—set on the Nina’s Nightmare track—and the ongoing "Golden Wumpa Hunt" return, encouraging racers to break special crates and chase elusive Golden Wumpa Fruits to earn additional rewards. Time Trial enthusiasts can now measure their skills against newly added "Beenox Ghost Times," which represent the development team’s fastest lap records.

Successfully defeating these times will unlock a set of exclusive Legendary Wheels, allowing players to display their mastery.

Those looking to earn the Champion Kart—previously available through the Grand Prix—can still unlock it by surpassing the challenging Oxide and Velo time trial records, with the addition of special Signature Decals as further incentives. The game’s Pit Stop store is brimming with new content as well.

Three new playable characters—Lab Assistant, Baby Cortex, and Baby N.

Tropy—make their debut, alongside two new customizable karts: the Neon Hawk airplane kart and the Nitro GT kart.

A variety of new Legendary Skins, color variations, and kart customization options are also accessible.

Importantly, items from prior Grand Prix seasons are set to periodically reappear, while a new prompt lets users refresh Pit Stop inventory more frequently to discover returning and new items within a day. Responding to community feedback, Beenox has updated Rilla Roo with a "Fixed" version for players who had unlocked the original, offering both versions as playable options.

Moreover, the creatively named "Iron Checkpoint Crate" now joins the roster as a hidden playable character, unlockable by discovering special Beenox crates distributed across tracks—a unique nod to the series’ playful roots. Additional features in this update include new Paint Jobs for completing Cup Races on all difficulties and a soundtrack option in the game’s menu, allowing fans to enjoy each track’s music outside of races.

In an effort to maintain competitive integrity, online leaderboards have been reset to address previous bugs impacting high scores, with all issues now resolved to ensure a fair experience for all competitors. Since its original release and subsequent seasonal updates, Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled has consistently proven its popularity on the Nintendo Switch and beyond.
