Description

Digiggle Games has officially announced the release date for its highly anticipated Nintendo Switch title, Aluna Rift.

The neon-drenched cosmic shooter is scheduled to launch as a digital download on November 27, 2025, bringing a fresh arcade experience to the Nintendo Switch eShop.

With a price point of $4.99, Aluna Rift aims to captivate both retro enthusiasts and modern gamers alike by blending old-school sensibilities with innovative game design. Inspired by the timeless 1979 arcade classic Asteroids, Aluna Rift reimagines the genre for today’s players.

The game features vibrant cosmic backdrops, an original score produced by Blackout Noise, and a distinct neon aesthetic that pulses with color and energy.

Throughout each session, players can expect an array of weapon upgrades, screen-filling boss battles that will test their reflexes, and variable gameplay driven by dynamic random encounters. Key features of Aluna Rift include fully rebindable, precise controls to suit individual play styles; stylized neon visuals set against expansive cosmic scenery; and a suite of competitive and cooperative game modes.

Players can collaborate in local co-op or challenge each other in fast-paced split-screen battles, adding endless replayability to the gameplay loop.

The addition of roguelite mechanics means each run rewards the player’s skill and progression, delivering ever-increasing buffs to those who dig deeper into the challenge. A highlight of Aluna Rift is its endless survival mode complete with a global leaderboard, encouraging players to chase high scores and engage with the larger Nintendo Switch community.

Achievement hunters will find plenty of rewards for their efforts, including achievements earned by mastering extreme in-game challenges. Speaking on the origins of the game, developer Ben Lowther-Saul explained that Aluna Rift began as a small-scale project for a job application, which required replicating Asteroids using Unity in just a few days.

"That initial prototype resonated with me, and from there, I was motivated to expand and develop it into a full-fledged, unique title," Lowther-Saul stated.

The project evolved organically, with each iteration introducing new features and gameplay elements. To see Aluna Rift in action, Digiggle Games has released a gameplay trailer that highlights its signature visual flair and intense gameplay.

As the Nintendo Switch library continues to grow, Aluna Rift is poised to carve out its space among fans of classic shooters and roguelite experiences. Look for Aluna Rift when it lands on the Nintendo Switch eShop this November, and stay tuned for further updates and coverage on upcoming Switch releases.
