NetherRealm Studios continues to expand the brutal universe of Mortal Kombat 1, bringing another iconic movie villain to its ever-growing roster.

The latest addition is the T-1000, the memorable antagonist from the 1991 blockbuster "Terminator 2: Judgement Day." The announcement was accompanied by a new trailer released on February 24, 2025, confirming that the T-1000 will be fully playable as part of the anticipated Khaos Reigns expansion, arriving on March 18, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. Staying true to tradition, NetherRealm Studios has meticulously recreated the T-1000’s distinctive look and menacing screen presence.

Fans of both the Mortal Kombat franchise and Terminator 2 will notice the character’s faithful adaptation, from the liquid-metal morphing abilities down to the chilling mannerisms made famous by actor Robert Patrick.

In the latest trailer, the T-1000 stuns players with a fatality sequence in which he hurls a massive truck at Johnny Cage, smashes his way through the windscreen, and executes a close-range attack with an SMG—showcasing the series’ signature over-the-top violence. Speaking to gaming press, NetherRealm Studios emphasized their commitment to authenticity: the team has worked closely with the original source material to bring the T-1000 to life, making sure every move and detail resonates with Terminator fans.

"Delivering a faithful representation of the T-1000 was crucial for us," a studio spokesperson explained, underscoring their dedication to honoring the film’s legacy while integrating the character seamlessly into Mortal Kombat 1’s universe. Joining the T-1000 in this expansion are other newcomers such as Conan the Barbarian and Ghostface, expanding the all-star roster available to Nintendo Switch users via the eShop.
